Stew:
2 lbs beef chuck or stew meat cut into 1 inch cubes
¼ cup flour
1½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
1½ cups beef broth
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic
1 bay leaf
1 tsp Paprika
4 carrots, sliced
3 potatoes, diced
2 onions, chopped (I omit and use onion powder since Jen doesn't like onion)
1 stalk celery, sliced (I omit and use 1 Tbsp dried celery)

Dumplings:
3 Tbsp shortening (crisco)
1½ cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
¾ cup milk
½ tsp salt

Stew:

Place meat in Crock-pot. Mix flour, salt and pepper, and pour over meat. Stir to coat meat with flour. Add remaining ingredients and stir to mix well. Cover and cook on Low 10-12 hours or High 4-6.

Dumplings:

Mix together all ingredients. ½ hour before stew is finished add dumplings to the top of crockpot. Cook uncovered for 10 minutes and then cover for 20 minutes until dumplings are done.
