Ingredients:  
⅔ cup strong brewed hot coffee
1 cup raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
cup butter or shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
tsp of baking powder **
tsp baking soda **
tsp salt


** omit baking powder & baking soda if using self-rising flour

Icing
1 cup powdered sugar
strong brewed coffee

Preheat oven 325 - bake 20-25 minutes

Well greased 9x13 baking pan

Combine hot coffee, raisins, & cinnamon - let stand while mixing rest ingredients
Cream butter/shortening with sugar, add eggs 1 at time, mixing well after each
Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
Combine creamed mix & flour mixture with the coffee mixture, beat well
Pour into prepared pan, bake 25 minutes

Icing ....
While cake baking, combine powdered sugar with enough coffee
to drizzle over warm bars or make thicker for icing

Cut into squares

I have this recipe in Mom's handwriting framed in my kitchen. I remember her making this most of my life, frequently carried to school in my lunch. Dad didn't drink coffee but loved this and never knew it was made with coffee !
