Dough:
3 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1½ tsp. salt
½-1c. water

Filling:
apples
sugar
cinnamon
butter

Topping:
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
2 c. water

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 425º. Mix flour, shortening, and salt while adding water to make a dough consistency. Roll out dough on a floured surface. Cover with a layer of sliced apples. Sprinkle with white sugar and cinnamon. Roll like a jelly toll. Cut into 12 slices. Lay slices in greased baking pan, cut side down. Place small dollop of butter on each. Bake at 425º for 30 minutes or until slightly brown. Mix brown sugar, sugar, and water and bring to a boil. Pour boiling syrup over dumplings. Bake for additional 7-10 minutes.
