2 eggs
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2 (1-oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
1/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º F. Melt chocolate and shortening in a small saucepan. In a mixing bowl, stir together eggs, sugar, vanilla and salt. Stir in chocolate mixture. Add flour and baking powder; stir until well combined. Pour into greased 9x9 baking dish. Bake 25-30 minutes

As a rule, Mom just did not use baking mixes. She was definitely a "from scratch" baker. Brownies were no exception. These are the only brownies I remember her making. I usually bake mine between 15 and 20 minutes, because I like them gooey.
