¾ cup sugar
¾ cup Crisco shortening
3 Tbs. flour
1 cup milk
1 tsp. Vanilla, anise or almond extract

Directions:
Directions:
1. Mix flour and milk in saucepan and whisk until all lumps are gone.
2. When flour mixture is smooth, cook over low heat to a pasty consistency (like toothpaste), stirring constantly so not to burn bottom.
3. Remove from heat, cover lightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until cool.
4. Cream Crisco and sugar for 4-6 minutes with electric mixer until creamy. Add the extract flavor of choice. (Note: if Crisco and sugar are not creamed well, frosting will be gritty)
5. Add cooled flour paste and beat until fluffy.

Recipe will frost a 9 X 13 cake. For a layer cake, double the recipe.
