½ c. shortening
½ c. peanut butter
½ c. granulated sugar
½ c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1¼ c. flour
¾ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
2 tbsp. water
2 - 6 oz. chocolate chips
½ c. chopped salted peanuts

Preheat oven to 375º. Grease 9 x 13 x 2" pan. Mix shortening, peanut butter, sugars, and egg thoroughly. Separately combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add dry ingredients gradually to wet, adding water last. Stir in 1 package of chocolate chips. Spread in pan. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, immediately sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top. Place back in oven until chips are softened, remove from oven and spread chocolate to cover top. Sprinkle with peanuts. Cut into bars.
