3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temp
1 - 7oz. almond paste, broken into pieces
3 large eggs
1 TBL kirsch (cherry brandy or merishieno cherry juice)
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup cake flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
Powered sugar - to dust with

Oven 350

Butter an 8 inch pan, bottom and sides. Then dust with flour
Beat the butter and sugar until light and creamy. Add almond past, 1 piece at a time. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time. Mix kirsch, almond extract and salt.
Mix flour and baking power in a small bowl. Mix into batter just the mixture is blended.
Spoon batter into the prepared pan, smooth top. Bake 35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the tester comes out clean. Cool in pan on rack.

My mother brought this home from the first O'Brien Family Tea Party, then men were not invited! I loved it. We still enjoy it at most of the family dinners to this day. Simple but delicious.
