CRUST

1 cup. butter
½ cup powdered sugar
2 cups flour

TOPPING

2 cups sugar
4 Tb. flour
½ tsp. baking powder
4 eggs, beaten
6 Tb. fresh lemon juice
½ tsp. lemon rind
powdered sugar

Chess Squares:
1 box butter cake mix
1 egg
1 stick butter (no subs)
Mix and spread in bottom of 13 x 9 pan, greased and floured.

Mix:
1 box confectioners sugar
4 eggs
1 8 oz. cream cheese
Spread above on top of cake and bake 350º for 40 minutes. Cut into squares when cool.

Directions:
Crust: Cream butter and sugar; add flour. Press into 13 x 9 pan. Bake 350º 20 minutes. Cool.

Topping: Sift sugar, flour, and baking powder. Add eggs, lemon juice, and rind. Pour over bake crust; bake 350º 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cut into squares.
