6 1/2 lbs yellow cucumbers ( 4 or 5 large)
2 Pods of hot red peppers ( med.)
3 Pts water, 2/3 c. pure salt
2-4 Sprigs fresh dill blossoms
1 T. grated horse-radish
2 1/2 c. cider vinegar
2/3 c. water
3/4 c. sugar

Wash and pare cucumbers thinly. Cut in half longwise, scrape out seed portion, cut in third lengthwise and cut in half crosswise. Put into glass or enamelware bowl and cover with brine made with the 3 pints of water and salt. Cover and let stand overnight. Drain well, divide the next three ingredients between two sterilized quart jars. Heat rest of ingredients to boiling, add cucumbers and simmer 5 minutes
Pack pickles into jars up to 1 inch from the top. Add boiling solutions to come within 1/2 inch of the top. Seal with glass of enamel lined lids.
