¾ c. shortening
1 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg
¼ c. molasses
2¼ c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
½ tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening, brown sugar, egg, and molasses until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger. Stir dry ingredients into molasses mixture until blended. Form into small balls, place 2" apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 8-10 minutes.
