cup butter, softened
cup shortening
cup brown sugar
1 egg yolk
tsp vanilla
tsp salt
cup finely chopped nuts
jelly or jam of choice

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, sugar, shortening, egg yolk and vanilla. Work in flour and salt until dough holds together.

Create 1 balls. Dip each ball into beaten egg white and roll in crushed nuts. Place on un-greased cookie sheet. Press thumb deeply into each cookie.

Bake at 350 for 10 minutes and remove immediately from sheet. Once cool, fill thumbprint with jelly or jam.
