1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar, lightly packed
tsp salt
1 cups natural bran
2 tsp baking powder
2 cups flour
1 cup nuts, chopped (pecans, walnuts etc.)
1 cup dates or raisins
2 cups buttermilk
2 tsp baking soda
2 eggs, beaten

Cream the butter and sugar adding the salt and bran to mixture.

In a separate bowl, sift together flour and baking powder and then add the flour mixture to butter and sugar. Add the nuts and raisins and mix well.

Add soda to buttermilk and mix. Then add buttermilk mixture to batter and mix gently until just combined. Fold in beaten eggs gently.

Spoon batter into paper lined muffin tins and bake at 325 for 20-25 minutes.
