3 T. vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
2 lbs. cubed beef stew meat
2 cups beef broth
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper
1 (.75 oz.) packet dry brown gravy mix
1 cup water

Directions:

In a large skillet heat oil over high heat. Sauté the onion until almost translucent. Add the stew meat and cook on high heat until meat is browned on all sides; about 3-5 minutes. Pour 2 cups broth, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce into the skillet. Stir in garlic powder, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 1½-2 hours. Meanwhile combine the gravy mix with 1 cup. Mix thoroughly and stir into the meat mixture. Bring to a boil stirring frequently until slightly thickened.

In a Crockpot:
Brown meat and onion in a skillet with a few shakes of Worcestershire sauce. Add to the crockpot. Mix the gravy. When boiling, add minced garlic, salt and pepper. Simmer 1 minute and add to crockpot. Cook on high 4-6 hours. Can be done in the Instant Pot also if you have one.
