2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. mixed spices
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1/2 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 c. grated pared apples
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. milk
1 c. seedless raisins
1 c. chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Grease bottom of 3 8" layer pan. Line pans with waxed paper. grease. Measure flour, spices and dry ingredients into sifter. cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy in large bowl at med speed. Beat in eggs, one at a time until fluffy Stir in apples and vanilla. Sift in flour mixture alternating with milk. Stir just until blended. Fold in raisins and walnuts. Bake 350 F 35 min. Cool 5 min Loosen edges and turn out on rack. Peel Paper
