1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup white corn syrup
2 eggs (well beaten)
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon allspice
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 Tablespoon grated orange peel
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Mix all ingredients together. Beat until smooth. Pour batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9" cake pan. Bake at 350º.
