Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp sugar
1 egg, well beaten
2 cups of buttermilk or sour milk
1 1/2 Tbsp melted shortening

Directions:
Directions:
1. Into the sifted dry ingredients add the egg beaten into the milk, then the melted shortening
2. Heat griddle and fry until golden

Note: If you are using milk, substitute 3 tsps of baking powder for the soda and milk for the buttermilk)
To make sour milk add white vinegar to the sweet milk and let it set for at least 5 minutes. (It can replace the buttermilk. I always add a bit more sugar then. )
