1/2 C. salted butter, room temp
1/2 c. sugar
3 large eggs
1/4 tsp. ground mace
1/4 tsp almond extract
1 tsp. grated lemon zest
1 tbsp. freshely squeezed lemon juic e
4 ox. blanched slivered almonds, finely crushed or chopped into 1/16-inch pieces
1 c. unbleached all-purpose flour
1/2 c. white wine

Preheat oven to 350ºf. Grease and flour an 8 1/2x4 1/2-inch loaf pan. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at at time, beating well after each. Stir in mace, almond extract, lemon zest and juice, and almonds. Stir in half of flour, followed by wine and then remaining half of flour, mixing well after each addition. Spoon batter into pan. Bake until lightly browned and a knife inserted in center comes out clean 40 to 50 min
