3 c. Sugar
1¼ c. Shortening
3 Eggs
¼ tsp. Anise Oil
1½ tbsp. Hartshorn (buy at the pharmacy)
1 c. plus 2 tbsp. Milk
8 c. Flour
Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Beat in eggs. Add oil. Dissolve hartshorn in milk. Alternate adding flour and milk to dough until suitable for rolling.

Roll dough on floured board.

Cut dough with cookie cutters.

Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375º for 15 minutes or until done, (we found baking at 350º for 12 minutes worked better).
