1 cup flour
1 cup milk

Directions:

Put 1/2 cube of butter in pan and melt in the oven
Mix the egg mixture thoroughly with a whisk, it should be have a good consistency
When butter is melted pour into the pan
It should turn out beautiful with the sides raised and crisp
Add powder sugar
Use syrup or jam and enjoy

This recipe was a favorite when I was growing up. My grandma always made Swiss hotcakes or "Datch" when the grandkids came. My mom always made Datch and Swiss hotcakes in the oven for me.
I always made it for the five McKinney kids. I never admitted that it made an inexpensive meal. Now I make this for the grandkids, who are also learning to make it. Cody has the technique down.
My teen grandsons can eat an entire Swiss hotcake. That is why I am thankful for two ovens.
Please don't let this tradition stop. My grandma even cooked these hotcakes before she had an electric stove.
