1 cup sugar
3 eggs - separated
1 1/2 cup milk
2 Tbs cornstarch
1 tsp, vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Brown 1/2 cup sugar in a skillet.
Beat egg yolks and add the other 1/2 cup sugar and beat,
Add milk and cook slowly
Add the caramelized sugar to the pie mixture.

When the sugar crystals are all dissolved, add cornstarch which has been dissolved in 1/4 cup milk.
Add vanilla and cook until thick.

Pour into cooked pie shell. To with meringue made from egg whites and brown in oven.

I can honestly say I never ate any of Granny's Caramel Pie! As a kid I thought it sounded yucky but now as an adult, I think I'll try it! I know Daddy loved them!
