1 tsp. baking soda
c. ground walnuts
1 c. prepared chocolate frosting

Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and shortening. Stir in the egg and vanilla, beat until light and fluffy. Combine the cake flour and baking soda and stir into the creamed mixture. Dough will be stiff. You may need to use your hands to mix. Roll dough into a log about 15 inches long and roll it into the ground nuts. Wrap and chill the dough for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
2. Preheat the oven to 350 and grease cookie sheets.
3. Unwrap the dough and cut it into inch slices. Place cookies 1 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheet.
4. Bake for 10 - 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies too cool for a few minutes before removing to cool on wire racks. When cool, place a dollop of fudge icing onto the center of each cookie.
