4 c. flour
1 2/3 c. buttermilk
1 c. cold butter, cut into 1/2" pieces
2 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp salt

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the dry ingredients together. Add the cold butter and cut into the dry ingredients with a pastry cutter until the the butter pieces are pea-sized. Pour the buttermilk into the mixture and gently work the dough together until it starts to come together.

Place the dough on a floured surface and knead gently just until the dough stays together. Don't over work!
Roll the dough out to about 1/2" thick and cut out biscuits. Gather the scraps and repeat until its all used up.

Place biscuits on a baking sheet and cook at 400º for 20 minutes or until golden brown on top.

These are my favorite! Mom taught me how to make them when I was a kid and I've in turn taught our kids. We still enjoy them today when everyone is home.
