Blend:
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs

Simmer: 1 c. raisins with 1 1/4 c. water. Drain and save the liquid.

Add 1 c. water drained from the raisins and 1 tsp. baking soda to the sugar mixture.

Sift together:
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Add: 2 c. oatmeal

Directions:
Can chill the dough for a little while in the fridge before baking. Drop by teaspoonsful on baking sheet.
Bake at 325 for 9-10 min.
