2 cups chicken broth or stock
2 14½ cans diced tomatoes
½ cup celery, chopped
½ cup onion, chopped
3 medium tomatoes, peeled and chopped ( I skip this and add 1 can of tomato soup)
3 Tbs. butter
3 Tbs. flour
2 cups half and half ( I use fat free half and half)
1 Tbs. sugar ( I don't use sugar, just salt and pepper)

Directions:
Directions:
In large saucepan, combine broth, canned tomatoes, celery and onion: bring to a boil.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

In blender or food processor, puree mixture in small batches until all mixture is pureed.
In same pan, cook fresh tomatoes in butter about 5 minutes. Stir in flour. Add half and half.

Over ow heat, cook and stir until thickened. Stir in broth mixture and sugar. Heat through but do not boil.

I change this recipe up a little bit. I don't do the fresh tomato step, but I do add a can of Campbell's tomato soup. Great soup, especially with an adult grilled cheese!!!! Yum!
