4 cups fruit, Sue recommends blackberries and pears
1/2 cup sugar
2 T corn starch
1 stick butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 cup flour, self-rising

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º.
Wash fruit and peel if needed.
Place fruit into an 8 x 8 inch baking dish.
Combine 1/2 cup sugar and corn starch and sprinkle over the fruit.
Mix butter and 1 cup sugar. Stir in egg.
Gradually add the flour and mix well until is consistency of a heavy cake batter or light biscuit dough.
Drop spoonfuls on top of the fruit. The topping will spread as it cooks.
Bake about 45-50 minutes, until light brown and top doesn't shake.
