Dutch Apple Pie Recipe

4 -5 medium Apples
⅓ cup Sugar
1 Tbsp butter

Topping:
½ cup butter
1 cup flour
½ cup Brown Sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon
Dash Salt

Gram Cat's Pie Crust: (makes 2)
2 cups Flour
½ cup heaping Crisco or Lard
¼ cup Milk
1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
¼ tsp Salt

Crust: Mix milk with the lemon juice and set aside. Cut flour and salt with Crisco/Lard until extremely fine crumbs. Mix in the milk, form into a ball, refrigerate. This makes 2 crusts. One can be saved for use later.

For pie: Saute apples with sugar and butter until everything is melted and apples have softened a bit. Roll out half the pie crust dough and put into a deep dish pie plate. Put in apples. Cut topping ingredients together until they resemble coarse crumbs. Put crumbs on the top of the pie. Bake at 400º for about 1 hour. If the crust is getting too brown before the apples are cooked, cover the outer edge of the crust with foil.
