1/4 lb. bacon, diced
1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
4 small potatoes, chopped
1 stem celery, chopped (optional)
1 tsp. salt
1 can clams
1 cup clam liquid
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. dried thyme leaves
1 bay leaf
3 cups milk
1/3 cup flour

Directions:
Directions:
Fry diced bacon to a crisp golden brown in a heavy pot. Lift out bacon and set aside. Add the onion to the bacon grease and fry until clear. Add garlic and cook another few seconds. Add the potatoes, seasonings and clam liquid; simmer about 20 minutes or until potatoes are soft. Add clams and simmer for 5 minutes. Combine milk and flour. Slowly stir into chowder to thicken. Heat through; add bacon. Serve.
