2/3 package (375 g) bacon, diced
1 cup diced onion
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup diced celery
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 cups chicken broth
2 cans (14 oz.) Northern beans (white), drained and rinsed
salt
pepper
1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Cook the bacon in a large pot until crisp. Remove crisp bacon to paper towel. Discard all but 2 tbsp. of the bacon grease. To the hot grease, add onions, carrots and celery. Cook over medium heat until they start to soften, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute. Stir in the chicken broth and beans. Season with salt and pepper to taste, let simmer for 1 hour. Add tomato sauce to taste and the bacon. Stir to combine. Simmer until heated through.
