8 medium fresh beets [Optional: Can substitute 15 oz. can of sliced beets.]
1 Tbsp. flour
½ cup sugar
½ tsp. salt
½ cup orange juice
2 Tbsp. butter
[Optional] 1 medium navel orange, halved and sliced
[Optional] ½ tsp. grated orange zest

Directions:
Directions:
Cook the beets (steam for 15 minutes until tender or boil for 25 minutes); peel and set aside.
Make the sauce in a saucepan by combining the flour, sugar, salt, butter. Stir in the orange juice until smooth. Bring to a boil; lower heat and cook and stir for 2 minutes, or until thickened. [Add orange slices and zest, if desired].
Pour over beets and serve.
[Note: If using canned sliced beets, drain the canned beets and omit the first step.)
