½ to 1 lb ground beef
3/4 lb bacon cut in small pieces
1 cup chopped onion
2 cans (1lb, 15 oz size) port and beans
1 can 1 lb kidney beans, drained
1 can 1 lb butter limas, drained
1 cup ketchup
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tbls liquid smoke
3 tbls white vinegar
1 tsp salt
dash pepper

Brown ground beef in skillet; drain off fat and put beef in crockpot. Brown bacon and onions, drain off fat. Add bacon, onions and remaining ingredients to crock-pot. Stir together well. Cover and cook on low 4 to 9 hours.

This recipe was made for the camping trips over Memorial Day when the twins were very young. Camped in a gravel pit by a fast running very cold creek. The fishing was great and this recipe goes well with fried trout.
