Joanie made this cake in Monterey CA for us in 1980. When Michelle Proses Hoffman, aged 2, she heard we were having Poppy Cake, she turned up her nose and said, “Poooooppppppyyyy cake??????” Poppy was her word for urine! We all had a good laugh and Michelle could not believe we ate it.
