½ cup sugar
½ tsp. cinnamon
¾ cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
4 cups tart apples, pared and thinly sliced
1 cup sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
1 egg, well-beaten
½ cup evaporated milk
⅓ cup butter, melted

Directions:

Mix sugar, cinnamon, and a half cup of the walnuts.
Place apples on the bottom of a greased 8¼ x 1¾-inch round cake pan.
Sprinkle with cinnamon mixture.
Stir together the dry ingredients.
In a mixer, combine egg, milk, and butter.
Add the dry ingredients all at once and mix until smooth.
Pour the mixture over the apples; sprinkle with the remaining walnuts.
Bake in the oven at 325º for about 50 minutes or until golden brown on top.
Serve alone or with whipped cream.
