Mix together:
1 egg
1 tspn baking soda
1 ⅓ cup buttermilk or sour milk (milk with a tspn of lemon juice or vinegar)

Mix with the following:
4 Cups flour
½ Cup sugar
¼ Cup shortening
1 tspn baking powder
1 Cup raisins
2 Tbsp caraway seed

1. Preheat oven to 350º
2. Knead dough until smooth
3. Bake in greased round casserole dish for 1 hour
