1 large whole egg
2 large egg whites
1 1/2 pounds 95% lean ground beef
2 tablespoons minced onion
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of fresh ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon of ground allspice
3/4 cup old-fashioned or quick-cooking (not instant) oats
1 cup of unsweetened applesauce

Glaze
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
2 tablespoons of hot water
(Double glaze recipe if you like more)

1. Preheat oven to 350 F
2. In small bowl whisk together the egg and egg whites until combined.
3. Place egg mixture and all other ingredients except glaze mixture, in bowl and mix using clean hands, do not over-mix. Pat the mixture into a 9 by 5 by 3 inch loaf pan.
4. GLAZE: In a small bowl stir together brown sugar, cloves and hot water. Brush glaze over top of the meat loaf. Baker for 1 1/2 hours.
