5 eggs
4 tablespoons vanilla
4 tablespoons cinnamon
2 tablespoons baking soda
2 teaspoons salt
1 lbs raisins
2 cups chopped walnuts
1 pound Crisco
2.5 lbs flour (approximately 8 - 9 cups flour)
1 box brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Add Crisco, brown sugar and eggs; mix together. Then add in vanilla, cinnamon, salt, shortening, mix thoroughly. Slowly add flour until cake consistency, then add raisins and walnuts. Work the dough until it doesn't stick to your hands. Make in small balls and bake at 350 degrees for about 15 - 20 minutes until cookies are brown.

In the Navas family cookbook recipes similar to this are in there about 5 times. I called Auntie Tida to figure out which recipe would be the best one for the book and she told me this one (after correcting the 17.5 cups of flour down by one-half). Uncle Andrew loved these cookies and would make a batch every so often and hide them so he could have a few each day. They're not too sweet - like a Puerto Rican Biscotti.
