Directions: - Scald the milk and remove it from the burner - add the butter, sugar and salt and let them melt (this allows the milk to cool before adding the yeast (or you'll kill the yeast) - dissolve the yeast in the water - add eggs and dissolved yeast to the milk and beat (with a mixer) add 2-3 cups of flour (slowly) and mix....that's probably all you can add with a mixer, so grab a wooden spoon and continue to add the flour (I can RARAELY add all 7 cups of flour to the mix, get the dough to a good consistency, sprinkle flour on a pastry cloth and dump the dough onto it - kneed the dough for about 5 minutes, but only to a soft dough, if you knead it too much, it gets too dense. - place into a greased bowl, cover with a cloth and let rise to double in bulk - punch it down, form into loaves (I usually make 2-3 braided loaves) - place loaves in a greased bread pan, cover and let rise for about ½ an hour - bake at 375 for 30-40 minutes
(you may wish to make this into smaller knots or buns, if so bake at 425 for 15 minutes)

Notes: Vicki's family refers to it as "Bob's Bread, but this is a recipe my mother got from her mother-in-law to make for our family. I usually make this at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter for sharing. It is a bit sweet, but it works great as a sandwich bread for leftovers.
