2 lb hamburger
1 -2 green peppers, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1-2 stalks celery, chopped
1 tsp chili powder
1 can tomato soup
1 can diced tomatoes
3 tbsp chili sauce
3 tbsp ketchup
3 tbsp brown sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
1 can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can mushroom, drained
1-2 tsp cayenne pepper, optional

In a large saucepan, add a little bit of olive oil. Brown hamburger, green peppers, onion and celery until meat is cooked. After meat is cooked, combine chili powder, soup, tomatoes, ketchup, brown sugar and salt and pepper. Simmer 1 hour. Add kidney beans and mushrooms. Cook an additional 20 minutes.

This is Pam Folkins’ recipe. I like to add more veggies. The original recipe only called for one of each. I usually double it. I also decrease the amount of sugar for Dave but for the McIntyre’s add a little more. Also I have added cayenne pepper to it. The original recipe is very mild. The cayenne gives it a nice kick. For a medium spice, I would add 2 tsp.
