1 jar (18-oz.) creamy peanut butter (2 cups)
1 stick butter or margarine, softened (½ cup)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. powdered sugar (3¾ cups)

Chocolate Coating:
1 (12-oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 T. shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the above ingredients until smooth. Shape into small round balls and dip into chocolate coating leaving a small section uncoated to resemble and eye. I use a toothpick to pick up the peanut butter balls and to partially dip into chocolate. this works pretty good.

Chocolate Coating;
Melt chips and shortening together in top of double boiler and use to coat the peanut butter balls. Once dipped, place candy on a waxed paper-lined baking sheet and refrigerate until set.
