1 cup lard (no substitutions!)
1½ cups brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
6 tbsp. corn syrup
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. salt
3 cups unsifted flour (approximate)

Jam (raspberry or strawberry, preferably seedless)

Directions:
Directions:
Oven to 350º F. Mix cake method. Refrigerate one hour. Roll out dough ¼-inch thick. You might need extra flour to roll out. Cut with a round cookie cutter. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Don't crowd them as they spread. Bake for 8 minutes.
Once they are cool, spread a thin layer of jam on the bottom of one cookie and sandwich together with another cookie of the same size.

This is Grandma Wurm's recipe. According to The Wurm Family Reunion Cookbook, Grandma made these with her homemade plum jam, and they were Grandpa's favourite cookie. She made them often, and we all think of her when we enjoy these delicious cookies!
