Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 lb. Milk-Maid Caramels (allow approximately 9 caramels per apple, and buy extra for nibbling)
5 medium red apples
2 Tbsp. water (use a measuring spoon)
5 wooden popsicle sticks
Enough butter to coat wax paper

Directions:
Directions:
Wash and thoroughly dry apples. Insert a stick in stem end. Put caramels and water in top of a double boiler; cook over hot water using a very low flame. Stir occasionally as caramels begin to melt (should take approximately 15 minutes for caramels to melt completely). (I have also done this without a double boiler in a regular saucepan, being very careful not to scorch the caramels).

Dip apples into melted caramels; twirl once or twice until apples are well coated. Spoon caramel sauce on to completely cover apple. Place apples on butter coated wax paper and place in refrigerator until cool.

Optional: roll coated apples in chopped nuts or candy sprinkles before refrigerating.
