Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/4 c. margarine or butter

1 pkg. (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
or 4 c. miniature marshmallows (fresher are better)

5 c. Rice Krispies cereal

Directions:
Directions:
1. Melt margarine or butter in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Cook over low heat 3 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.

2. Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated. A silicone spatula, buttered, makes this easier. It will be stiff.

3. Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly into buttered 13 x 9" pan. Press down tightly. Cut into squares when cool.

VARIATIONS:
1. Peanut butter treats: Melt 2 Tbsp. peanut butter into hot marshmallow mixture.
2. After stirring in Rice Krispies cereal, add 3/4 c. cold mini marshmallows and 1/2 c. chocolate chips or M & M's.
3. Fruity treats: In place of 2 cups of the Rice Krispies, use 2 cups of Trix, Fruity Pebbles, or another brightly colored cereal.
4. Girl Scout Thin Mint treats: Crush 25 thin mint cookies, and reserve out 3 Tbsps. Add the rest to the butter and marshmallows just as the marshmallows start to melt and stir constantly to prevent chocolate from burning. Make treats as the recipe directs and then sprinkle remaining Tbsps. of cookies over the top.

Note: stale marshmallows or stale cereal makes these not quite as good.
