French Onion Beef Sliders Recipe

2 lbs ground beef
8 tbsp butter - divided
2 large sweet onions - sliced
2 tbsp. beef base - I use better than bouillon
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste
24 slider buns
12-16 oz Gruyere cheese - chopped
2 tbsp. sesame seeds - optional
1 tbsp. fresh thyme
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder

Melt 2 tbsp of butter in a skillet add the onions and cook for 20-30 minutes until slightly caremelized.
In a large bowl mix together the beef, half of the worcestershire sauce, half the beef base, salt and pepper.

Add to skillet with onions and cook until beef is fully cooked. Drain off excess fat.

Preheat oven 350º. Lightly grease a deep dish baking pan. Separate buns and place the bottoms evely in the pan. Evenly distribute beef mixture ove the buns.Top with the cheese then put the tops of buns on. Set aside.


In a small sauce pan melt remaining butter with worcestershire sauce. Mix well. Using a pastry brush, brush this mixture evenly over bun tops. Sprinkle with onion powder, garlic powder, thyme and, if using, sesame seeds.

Bake until cheese is fully melted, about 30 minutes.
