1 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. boiling water
1 T. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dates, baking powder with hot boiling water. Let stand 1 hr. (or in microwave for 10 seconds). Set oven to 325º. Cream butter and sugar. Add Beat in the eggs. Add the flour and salt. Add the date mixture and and nuts. Spread in greased square pan or double recipe and put in 10 by 14 in pan. Bake 40-50 minutes, until done. Cool. Cut into squares and serve with whipped cream.
