1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup butter (or margarine), softened
1 teas vanilla
1 egg
2 cups flour (and ¼-½ cup extra flour)
2 T poppy seeds
½ teas salt
⅓-½ cup cherry preserves

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In large bowl, beat powdered sugar and butter/margarine until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg and blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup (don't pack) and level off. Stir in flour, poppy seeds and salt; mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. With finger, make imprint in center of each cookie. Fill each imprint with about ½ teas preserves. Bake at 300 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets.
