"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

Directions:
Blend together all meatball ingredients in a large bowl , then roll into balls & brown gently in a saucepan with olive oil until golden. Set aside

In the meatball skillet,, cook onion until translucent, add garlic & cook until fragrent but not browned.

In a large Dutch oven add all the rest of sauce ingredients, then add onion& garlic mix (can use part of the canned tomatoes to deglaze the pan) & let cook on low for several hours. The longer it cooks, the better.

About an hour before serving, add the meatballs into the sauce & continue to cook. Beware that if you cook meatballs too long, they will fall apart - then you have meat sauce - lol!!!
