⅔ c sugar
⅓ c soft shortening
2 eggs
3 T sour milk
1 c mashed bananas
½ c warm water

2 c flour
1 t baking powder
½ t baking soda
½ t salt
½ c walnuts, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together sugar, shortening and eggs. Stir in sour milk and mashed banana. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir into the rest. Pour into well greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Let stand 20 minutes. Bake in 350˚ oven until loaf tests done, 50 to 60 minutes. Serve warm or cold.

This is a great way to use up those overripe bananas. Make sour milk by adding lemon juice to the milk. Sue's sister, Lisa Hopp Robinson's, copy of this recipe includes ½ c chopped walnuts added at the end.
