2½ cups sugar
Pinch of slat
½ stick of cutter
⅔ cup boiling water
⅔ cup flour
1 egg
Juice of 2 or 3 lemons and the rinds of 2

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together sugar, salt, butter, and flour until completely mixed – add egg and hot water a little at a time – put in a covered sauce pan on stove and bring to a boil – stir often because it burns easily – if you have something to keep the direct heat off the pan that will help – use 2 ½ lemons for the juice and the grated rind of 2 of the lemons – when done it will stop foaming and will stick to the spoon.
