2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening (Crisco solid shortening)
4 eggs
1 bar of Bakers German chocolate
½ cup boiling water
2½ cups cake flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
Dash salt

Directions:
Directions:
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
Cream shortening and sugar together – separate egg white from yolks – add yolks one at a time to shortening and sugar mixture and beat well – melt Bakers
German chocolate in a double boiler – alternately add chocolate, flour, and buttermilk (reserve ¼ cup buttermilk) to sugar and shortening mixture – (Dissolve soda in the reserved ¼ cup of reserved buttermilk) – add to mixture – add vanilla and salt – beat reserved egg whites until stiff peaks – fold stiff egg whites into mixture – pour into 3 well greased 9 inch cake pans – put in oven to bake.
