1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
¾ tsp soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
¾ cup soft shortening (not oil)
1⅓ cups firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups Oats, uncooked
1 cup raisins

Directions:

Bake at 350º for 12 to 15 minutes
Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg into a bowl – add shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla – beat until smooth about 2 minutes – stir in oats and raisins – drop by heaping tablespoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheets – bake in preheated oven.
Makes about 3½ dozen cookies
