French Meat Pie Recipe

2 TB oil
1 large onion (diced roughly)
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 cup mashed potatoes
2 tsp ground ALLSPICE (Mom used Bell's Seasoning instead)
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Pastry for 2 pies
1 beaten egg

Directions:
Directions:
Place one crust into pie plate. Preheat oven to 375º

With a little oil, saute onions until translucent & tender but not browned.Remove & set aside in a large bowl.

In same skillet, brown both meats, crumbling as much as possible. Cook until browned (but not crispy) then add to onions in the big bowl. Add the potatoes & seasonings & combine thoroughly. Then fill pie crust with meat mixture.

Place second crust on top fluting edges & cut slits on top. Brush egg over crust to brown more thoroughly.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until crust is golden brown & flaky.
